Management

Jim Nolan started The Nolan Company in 1979, and has over 46 years of experience in the retirement planning field. As the Chairman and CEO, Jim guides the strategic direction of the company focusing on new business development while serving as a trusted adviser to his current clients. In addition to his role at The Nolan Company, Jim is the president of the American Society of Pension Professionals and Actuaries (ASPPA), a non-profit, professional organization with over 7,000 members. 

Jim graduated from the University of St. Thomas with a Bachelors of Arts in General Business and is a Qualified Pension Administrator (QPA) and Enrolled Retirement Plan Agent (ERPA). Originally from Davenport Iowa, Jim lives in Leawood, Kansas. In his spare time, Jim enjoys playing golf and spending time with his wife and eight-month old puppy. 

Cindy Nolan started with The Nolan Company in 2005. As the Director of Human Resources and Finance, Cindy oversees all of the human resources and financial functions of The Nolan Company, including payroll, benefits, financial analysis, and training. Previously, Cindy served as a Pension Plan Administrator for three years at The Nolan Company. Prior to that, she spent several years in retail as a District Manager. 

Cindy graduated from St. Ambrose University with a Bachelors of Arts in Business, specializing in Marketing. Originally from Davenport, Iowa, Cindy spent fifteen years in Chicago before moving to Kansas City. In her spare time, Cindy enjoys cooking, spending time with friends, playing with her dog, and spending time with her daughter.

Pension Administrator Assistant

Audi Anderson joined The Nolan Company in July of 2016. In her role as a Pension Administrator Assistant, Audi assists Pension Administrators by communicating with clients regarding information needed in order to complete their yearly valuation, preparing and analyzing all of the data, reconciling asset statements, and assisting in any way she may be useful.

 

Audi graduated from the University of Iowa with a Bachelors of Arts in English. Originally from Davenport, Iowa, Audi currently resides in Kansas City, MO. Audi enjoys spending time with friends and family, watching college football and basketball, playing sand volleyball, and diving into a good book.

Heather Baughman started at The Nolan Company in October 2015.  As a Distributions Coordinator Assistant, Heather assists in tracking customer distribution requests, administering outbound communication to clients, and providing inbound customer service support. Before joining the Nolan Company, Heather spent seven years as a retail supervisor. Prior to that, she was a Project Manager for a large telecommunication company and a market research firm.  

 

Heather earned a Bachelors degree in Communications from Missouri State University. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two boys, traveling, going to movies, playing basketball, and spending time with her dogs.

Stephanie Billings started with The Nolan Company in September 2013.  In her role, Stephanie assists all Nolan Company clients with determining when participants are eligible for a distribution or loan. In addition, she prepares the proper paperwork, and coordinates the distributions through the plan’s custodian. Prior to joining The Nolan Company, Stephanie spent three years as the lead receptionist at an animal hospital and ten years at Nielsen Broadcast Data Systems working to track the number of times songs received airplay on radio for Billboard charts. 

In her spare time, Stephanie enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter, and the rest of her extended family. She enjoys researching family history, and has traced her lineage back 16 times her great grandmother. 

Brandy Brandt

Pension Administrator Quality Control

Brandy Brandt started with the Nolan Company in 1999. In her role, Brandy provides clients with contributions that maximize their retirement savings and then prepares annual reporting, reviews peer reports for accuracy, and helps transition new plans to The Nolan Company. 

Brandy graduated from the University of Kansas with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, and is a Qualified 401(k) Administrator (QKA) and a Qualified Pension Administrator (QPA). Originally from Oklahoma, Brandy lives in Lawrence, Kansas with her husband, two daughters, and a stubborn English bulldog. When not watching her daughters' extracurricular activities, Brandy enjoys running and reading. 

Mary Alice Brown joined The Nolan Company in 2003 and has over thirty six-years of retirement planning experience. As a Pension Administrator, Mary Alice serves as the primary contact for her clients where she helps prepare the retirement plan annual valuation. Prior to joining the Nolan Company, Mary Alice spent thirteen years with a large local public hospital and nine years with a major national home improvement retailer in Human Resources working with various types of retirement plans.

Mary Alice graduated from the University of Missouri at Kansas City with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration (BBA), and is an Enrolled Retirement Plan Agent (ERPA), Qualified Plan Administrator (QPA), and Qualified 401K Administrator (QKA). Mary Alice lives in Overland Park, Kansas where she enjoys sewing, reading, traveling, and spending time with her two grown sons and their families.  

Ashleigh Dennison started at The Nolan Company in 2014 where she has been an Office Coordinator and Document Storage Specialist. In her roles, Ashleigh helps manage the office which includes file maintenance and making sure paper documents are converted into an electronic format as accurately as possible. 

Ashleigh graduated from Linn State Technical College in 2014 with an Associates Degree in Electronics Engineering Technology specializing in Computer Maintenance. Originally from Smithville, Missouri, Ashleigh lives in Kansas City and enjoys sports, video games, and hanging out with friends and family.  

Diane Etzkorn joined The Nolan Company in November 2000, and has worked in the retirement plan field since 1984. In her role as a Pension Administrator, Diane serves as the primary contact with her clients, and helps prepare the annual valuation.  Prior to joining the Nolan Company, she spent three years with United Farm Agency and thirteen years working for the Director of Compensation and Benefits at The Lee Company. 

Diane is a Qualified 401K Administrator (QKA). She was born and raised in Kansas City, and loves spending time with her husband of 40 years, two daughters, granddaughter, grandson, mom, dad, and 5 brothers and their families.  

Carol Halper joined The Nolan Company in 2015. As an Administrative Assistant, Carol assists with new client setup, engagement agreements, welcome packets, deposits, and other miscellaneous items. Prior to joining The Nolan Company, Carol accumulated over thirty years of experience in retail management. 

Carol attended the University of Kansas, studying English literature. In her spare time, Carol volunteers with FHS (Kansas City), an organization that works with homeless people. She lives in Overland Park, KS, and spends her free time with her family and friends. 

Lara Hampton joined The Nolan Company in 1994, and has been working in the retirement plan services field since 1989. In her Quality Control position, Lara reviews plan accuracy and compliance. In addition, she makes sure the calculations and testing produce the optimal contribution her clients.

Lara has a Bachelor of Arts in English with an emphasis in Writing from the University of Missouri- Kansas City, and is a Qualified Pension Administrator (QPA). As a Kansas City, Missouri native, Lara enjoys reading, kayaking, and running with her border collie. 

Misty Holecek joined The Nolan Company in October 2002, and has been working in the retirement services field since 1997. In her role as a Pension Administrator, Misty completes annual valuations and is a primary contact for her clients with any questions they may have. 

Misty graduated from Friends University in 2002 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Resources, and is a Qualified 401K Administrator (QKA). Originally from a small town in western Kansas, Misty enjoys spending time with her two kids (Danny and Baylee), sports photography, working in her yard, and playing in volleyball and bowling leagues throughout the year. 

Laura Kava joined The Nolan Company in 2002. In her role as a Pension Administrator, Laura assists her clients in plan design, actuarial valuation, and compliance testing. Prior to joining The Nolan Company, Laura worked for an actuarial consulting firm.

Laura graduated from Colorado State University with a degree in Mathematics, and grew up in Boulder, Colorado. 

April Ladish joined The Nolan Company in January 2006 for a year, and then returned in September 2013. In her role as a Pension Administrator Assistant, April assists Pension Administrators in preparing annual valuations by helping clients gather and scrub data needed for annual valuations, and prepares the census and initial asset reconciliations. 

April is originally from a small town in central Kansas, and moved to Overland Park in 2005 to join The Nolan Company. In her free time, April enjoys reading, and spending time with her granddaughter.

Chelsea McCann joined The Nolan Company in October 2015. In her role as a Pension Administrator Assistant, Chelsea collects and analyzes census data, reconciles asset statements, completes legal documents, and communicates with clients regarding information needed to finalize their yearly report. Prior to joining The Nolan Company, Chelsea worked as a financial adviser helping to assist with financial aid, government grants, and handling accounts receivable. 

Chelsea graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia and completed a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Marketing and a minor in Spanish. Originally from Springfield, Missouri, Chelsea enjoys spending time with her husband, traveling, and mentoring others. 

Melissa McConnell joined The Nolan Company in 1997. As a Pension Administrator, Melissa assists her clients in maximizing their retirement plan contributions with cutting edge retirement plan design and administrative services. She also serves as a resource for answering questions and resolving issues regarding their retirement plan. 

Melissa graduated from the University of Kansas with a Bachelors of Science in Health Education. Originally from the Kansas City area, Melissa resides in Olathe, Kansas, and enjoys traveling and spending time with her husband and sons. 

Dawn started working for The Nolan Company in 1995. In her Quality Control role, Dawn reviews all legal documents, census data, valuations, and correspondence for plans administered by The Nolan Company for accuracy and compliance. Prior to joining The Nolan Company, Dawn worked as an actuary in Dallas and worked for William M Mercer Inc administering defined contribution plans and ESOPs. 

Dawn received a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from the University of Texas at Arlington, and is a Certified Pension Consultant (CPC) and a Qualified Pension Administrator (QPA). Originally from Salem, New Hampshire, Dawn enjoys downhill skiing, boating, biking, and spending time with her husband, two children, and Labrador retriever. 

Kim Shaw joined The Nolan Company in 2008. As a Pension Administrator, Kim assists her clients in maximizing their retirement plan contributions through completion of their annual administration and compliance testing.  She also serves as a resource for any questions related to the plan. Prior to joining The Nolan Company, Kim spent eight years in human resources for a large retailer.

Kim graduated Cum Laude from Park University with a Bachelors of Arts in Social Psychology and a minor in Biomedical Science, and is a Qualified 401K Administrator (QKA). Originally from Kansas City, Kim resides in Olathe where she enjoys playing volleyball and spending time and traveling with her hsuband, children, and two dogs. 

Shay Smith joined The Nolan Company in 2002. As a project Manager, Shay manages internal processes, software, and government filings. Prior to working for The Nolan Company, she worked for Ernst & Young LLP for five years.

Shay graduated from the University of Saint Mary with a Bachelors of Arts in History specializing in Education. Originally from Kansas City, Kansas, Shay is still active in the community. Outside of her work at The Nolan Company, Shay enjoys music, concerts, and travel. 

Susan Stevens joined The Nolan Company in 2003, and has over twenty years of experience in the retirement planning field. As a Pension Administrator, Susan manages the retirement plan administration process for an assigned group of plans, which includes working with the clients to determine the contribution allocations that best meet their goals, identifying and addressing compliance issues, and completing the annual valuations for the plans.  Prior to joining The Nolan Company, Susan spent five years with third party administrators in Denver, Colorado. 

Susan graduated from Park University with a Bachelors degree in Mathematics, and is a Qualified Pension Administrator (QPA) and a Qualified 401K Administrator (QKA). A native of Kansas City, Missouri, Susan enjoys traveling and is always planning her next trip. 

Susan Stuart joined The Nolan Company in 1997. In her role as Senior Pension Administrator Assistant, Susan performs Assistant duties, training, and heads several projects throughout the year. Prior to joining the Nolan Company, Susan worked in accounting with an emphasis in taxation for over fifteen years. 

Susan holds a Bachelors of Arts in Mathematics from the University of St. Mary. In her spare time, Susan enjoys reading, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. 

Corie Toombs joined The Nolan Company in 2015. As the Office Coordinator Assistant, Corie assists the office coordinator and the project coordinator with processing the mail, sending client reports, making office supply orders, and preparing 5500s, AFTAPS and extentions. She also verifies documents before shredding. Prior to joining The Nolan Company, Corie worked as a mental health therapist for six years and a retail store manager for ten years. 

Corie has a Bachelors of Science in Psychology and a Masters Degree in Education. 

Ben Tosone joined the Nolan Company in 2008. As a Pension Administrator, Ben strives to provide the most efficient service to his clients.  He enjoys working with numbers, helping clients understand the details of their retirement plans in simple terms, and helping them attain their retirement plan goals. Prior to joining The Nolan Company, Ben spent several years working in restaurant management. 

Ben graduated from Emory University with a Bachelors of Arts in Mathematics. Ben was raised in both the Kansas City and Atlanta areas, but currently resides in the Kansas City area.  He enjoys traveling with his wife, cooking, and playing golf. 

Walter Xue joined the Nolan Company in 2004 after completing his masters degree in mathematics. As a Pension Administrator, Walter does plan design, actuarial valuation, and compliance testing. Since joining The Nolan Company, Walter has worked with hundreds of clients to help them save for retirement. 

Walter graduated from East Tennessee State University with a masters degree in math in 2002. He is a Qualified Pension Administrator (QPA), and an active member of the American Retirement Association. Walter is originally from Shanxi, China, and enjoys swimming and spending time with his family.
